Belgian extreme metal outfit Off the Cross have decided to do something special for their upcoming EP, ERA. Each of the four songs on the EP features a guest vocalist, which the band believes will add to the mood of the songs. They’re kicking off that EP with the song “Goddess,” which features guest vocalist Marcela Bovio, one of the many vocalists in Dutch symphonic death metal collective MaYaN. Bovio’s powerful clean singing underscores the melody that is already present in Off the Cross’ symphonic death metal.
Of course, it wasn’t enough to just include Bovio; Off the Cross also recruited cellist Inez Descheemaecker and organist Gerben Andries to play on the song, which takes a significant turn toward melody at the two-and-a-half minute mark.
“‘The Goddess’ is the first song on our upcoming EP: ERA. This video represents the concept both musically, with the addition of different instruments, as well as in lyrical content, with the destructive power of the fire.”
ERA will be released on November 2.
